In today's Deseret News, Marilou Sorensen has an article for great summer reads. I noticed that she mentioned the new book The Neddiad by Daniel Pinkwater. I haven't read any of his books lately, but I remember them being very humorous and off-the-wall. She also mentions Shannon Hale's new novel for adults Austenland, about a girl who goes to a Jane Austen "theme park" and finds....what else??? Love! I have them both on hold at the library!

I hadn't even heard about the new one from Shannon. I know just the person to recommend this one to. Thanks!

So sad--I had Austenland on hold at the library and ready for pickup, but I'm going on a week-long rafting trip down the Grand, so I can't risk taking a brand new library book with me--and I only get it for one week. I'll have to get it when I get back. Guess I can't complain, though, under the circumstances...

P.S. Shannon has another fairy-talish YA book coming out in August--the seventeenth or so, I believe.

Only ONE week! What kind of a crazy library system is that anyway? Tee Hee! We now get 3 weeks, plus a 3 week online renewal at our public library, and I LOVE it!

We get two weeks for most items, but one week for new books. No online renewal yet, though I keep meaning to ask them about it. We do have access to our account information online, at least. Teachers get extended time on books, which is nice.
